Physical Education
Our PE curriculum provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness.
Opportunities to compete in sports individually and as a team are encouraged to support character building, enhance teamwork skills and boost confidence and self-esteem. It also allows the pupils to work on building respect and develop a greater understanding of fairness.
Swimming is an integral part of our curriculum at all Key Stages to ensure they learn water safety and engage in swimming instruction. This is a life skill that is vital for all our students to gain before they leave Hatfield Wick School.
AQA awards can be achieved in Physical Education.
KS2 & KS3
PE at Key Stages 2 & 3 covers the national curriculum aims and content. A variety of sports are provided across all year groups, so they experience a wide range, such as: swimming, football, tag-rugby, parkour, badminton, athletics and outdoor activities, which support our curriculum, like forest school.
At Key Stages 2 & 3, PE is taught twice a week by our PE specialist who teaches across all key stages.
KS4
Currently, we do not offer qualifications at Key Stage 4. However, considerations, depending on our cohorts in the future, would be accepted. PE through NCFE Sport would be a potential route as we continue to grow.
